Another year is drawing to a close. It’s hard to believe we are already in November – we have been very busy this year learning from and serving in the ten counties across our region. The miles and the time have passed quickly! We are thankful for another year to serve our neighbors and friends and look forward to growing our reach and impact in the years to come! I would love an opportunity to talk with you more – to learn what matters most to you, catch up on all the great things we’re doing, hear your suggestions, and answer your questions. UPDATES FROM UWSCKY
New/expanding programs:
- Real Men Read: This year we are continuing Real Men Read at Hopkins Elementary and Science Hill Independent and are adding Shopville Elementary and three schools in McCreary County! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer reader, email info@uwscky.org for more information.
- WEYL: Women Empowering Young Leaders – this is a NEW program through our Women United (WU) affinity group! A core team of WU volunteers put in a lot of work to develop a mentorship and educational program for at-risk 8th grade girls. We are piloting the program at Meece Middle School this fall and hope to expand to other schools in the future. For more information, visit www.uwscky.org/news or email info@uwscky.org
Year-end fundraising opportunities:
- Cyber Monday / Giving Tuesday Online Auction: We are partnering with Ford Brothers Auctioneers again for our online fundraising auction! If you would like to donate items for the auction – gift certificates, gift baskets, sport tickets, concert tickets, gently used furniture, antiques, collectibles, sports memorabilia, handbags, etc. – please reach out to us at the office. Be sure to keep an eye on Ford Brothers website and our Facebook Page for the auction! The auction will be live the week after Thanksgiving: November 27 – December 1.
- Faith 365 Circle: Our Faith community is vital to the wellbeing of our region. Faith centers provide places of comfort and belonging in the communities we serve. But we know that isn’t enough to meet the needs of everyone. We believe that when we LIVE UNITED we can have a greater impact on the region. Please consider sharing our 365 FAITH circle with your faith leaders/congregation. The idea behind the 365 is to pledge a donation of $365 (1 dollar per day) or more from your faith community, whether it’s a line item in the budget, a “special offering” opportunity, or a special fundraising event. We’re happy to provide you with information and/or meet with your faith leaders to plan a successful Faith 365 Campaign. Please email info@uwscky.org if you’re interested!
- Year End Giving: As we draw near to the Holidays and the end of another year, our staff, Board, and volunteers want to thank you for your investment in our communities. Without you, we are not able to support our Partner Agencies and we’re not able to develop new programs. We hope you will continue supporting our efforts as we seek to grow our reach and impact in 2024 and beyond. Please consider an additional year-end gift or pledging your donation for 2024.
